Uncontrollability

As soon as you file a police report, you give life to something that immediately moves beyond your control. Once you put your fate into the hands of the police, you lose your ability to make any meaningful decisions; they are then made for you. And no matter what happens in the case, or what new information comes to light, the course is set by law enforcement agencies. Once the machine starts moving it can be almost impossible to stop.
